Cuba's men's volleyball team will be opposite U.S.A. today in the closing of pool play of the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship held in Charleston, West Virginia, United States, after 3-0 wins over Puerto Rico and Suriname.

The Cuban duo of Carlos Ajete and Reidy Cardona advanced today to the C/D semifinal of the World Championship in Belgrade, Serbia, by finishing in fourth place in the quarterfinals of the open short sculls double pair (2x), based in the Ada Cigaganlija Park canal on the Sava River.

Cuba will be represented by 11 athletes at the World Wrestling Championships to be held in Belgrade, Serbia, from September 16 to 24, an event that will give five tickets for each of the divisions to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Cuba’s top triathlete Leslie Amat started for Olympic Games at the 2023 Americas Triathlon Championships for women in Veracruz, Mexico, but could only participate in the 1,500-meter swimming competition, which she finished in 20:27 min, plus 26 seconds for the swim/bike change.

 On September 16 and 17, Varadero resort will host more than 320 international swimmers, as well as Cuban competitors, who will compete for prizes in the different distances in the 1st Grand Open Water Challenge in the famous seaside resort.

Cuba has right now 341 athletes qualified for the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, said today in Havana Jose Antonio Miranda, general director of high performance of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation ((INDER by its Spanish acronym).

Lisandra Ordaz and Yerisbel Miranda were chosen among the six protagonists of the FIDE America team for the Bydgoszcz 2023 Women's World Team Chess Championship, to be held in Poland from September 5 to 12.
