Cuba falls to Colombia at U23 Baseball Pre-World Cup

 HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 28 (ACN) The Cuban U-23 baseball team lost 4-7 to its Colombian counterpart in the Pre-World Cup being held in Nicaragua on Monday.

At the end of the ninth inning, Cuban outfielder Carlos Monier hit a double play with no outs and scored the Cuban defeat at the Roberto Clemente stadium in the city of Masaya.

Cuban Jose Isaias Grandales took the loss in the challenge. In four innings of work, he was allowed three hits, conceded four clean runs, gave away two tickets and struck out four.

Five others followed him on the mound, but could not hold off the Colombians.

Cuba (2-1) will play again Tuesday against Venezuela at the Soberania National Stadium in Managua, forced to win in order to keep their chances of qualification.
