Cuba's top singles rowers have been training since Friday in the central province of Cienfuegos, with their focus on the qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Onel Planas Castillo, head coach (DT by its Spanish acronym) of the Cuban men's basketball team, said in Havana that they have the purpose of advancing to the AmeriCup 2025, in the qualifying tournament of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

Cuba opened today its action without medals on the first day of the Grand Slam of judo in Baku, Azerbaijan, a competition that will conclude this Sunday with the presence of 404 athletes from 62 countries.

The National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation of Cuba (INDER) will receive a shipment of weight-training equipment donated by the French commune of Tremblay-en-France to support the preparation of Cuban athletes.

Cuba announced the 12 names of its men's basketball team for the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 qualifiers—including its leader Jasiel Rivero, who will play this season for the Israeli club Maccabi Haifa.

Cuban triple jumpers Lazaro Martinez and Cristian Napoles, as well as high jumper Luis Enrique Zayas, will be active tomorrow in the winter indoor athletics tour, in what will be their third appearances of the season.

With a personal best of 4.41m, the Cuban pole vaulter Aslin Quiala won the athletic meeting of Valencia, Spain, a Challenger category competition of the World Athletics Indoor Tour.

In his second competition of the year’s indoor winter tour, Cuba’s Luis Enrique Zayas shared the 11th place with three other jumpers in the athletic meeting held in Trinec, Czech Republic.
