HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 7 (ACN) In his second competition of the year’s indoor winter tour, Cuba’s Luis Enrique Zayas shared the 11th place with three other jumpers in the athletic meeting held in Trinec, Czech Republic.
Zayas, who boasts an outdoor personal best of 2.33m and was Pan Am champion in 2019 and 2023, started by jumping 2.10m and then failed in his first attempt at 2.15m before withdrawing from the event for reasons hitherto unknown.
On Tuesday, in his indoor debut this season, the Cuban athlete won the meeting in Udine, Italy—a Challenger category competition of the World Athletics Indoor Tour—with a 2.26m jump.
