HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 22 (ACN) Cuba won three medals, one of each color, on the first day of the Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Acapulco, Mexico.
Greco-Roman wrestlers Daniel Grégorich (87 kg), Oscar Pino (130 kg) and Yosvanys Peña (77 kg) finished first, second and third, respectively, in their divisions.
Current Pan-Am champion Gregorich won three bouts on his way to the podium—including a gold-winning fight against the Venezuelan Luis Eduardo Avendano—whereas Pino lost in the final to the Cuban national naturalized Spaniard Yasmani Acosta and Peña beat Chile’s Josué Eduardo Bernal for the bronze medal.
