Havana, Feb 7 (ACN) Cuban triple jump expert Leyanis Perez got the victory Wednesday with the best world score this year—14.86 meters-- at the Athletics Championship hosted by the French town of Mondeville.
Perez, bronze medalist at Budapest World Meet made it in her fifth attempt at the meet, which is considered a silver category event of the World Athletics Indoor Tour.
Cuban Liadagmis Povea finished second after scoring 14.27 meters followed by Turkish Tugba Danismaz (13.96). The triple jump championship was contested by seven athletes, according to the French Triple Jump Association.
The Cuban winner broke the event’s record (14.48 meters) which she herself had set in 2022.
