HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 16 (ACN) Cuban Andrea Becali will be today in the 200 meters backstroke of the swimming tournament of the World Championship in Doha, Qatar, a competition that distributes Olympic tickets for Paris 2024 until Sunday.
This will be her second and last presentation, and she will do it in the fourth heat of the preliminaries with her best national record.
Previously Becali, owner of the national record with 1:03.70 minutes, finished 31st among 56 contestants in the 100m backstroke, with 1:04.22 minutes, to beat her entry mark (1:04.70 minutes).
The other Cuban in competition is still the swimmer Rodolfo Falcon Jr., who will swim the 1,500 meters this Saturday, after making his debut on Tuesday in the 800 meters, a distance in which he stopped the clocks in 8:38.90 minutes.
With that time she placed second to last among 43 registered swimmers, far from the 8:16.24 minutes, her best time achieved three years ago.
Elisbet Gamez, who closed Thursday with her best performance, 24th place in the 100-meter freestyle with 56.20 seconds, after finishing 27th (2:00.83 minutes) and 25th (4:19.91 minutes) in the 200 and 400 meters, respectively.
Cuba also participated in the Qatari world championship in diving and artistic swimming with good performances, mainly with the diving ornamentalists Prisis Leydis Ruiz and Anisley Garcia.
In synchronized swimming, the best performance was by the mixed duet of Soila Carelys Valdes and Andy Manuel Avila, a pair that improved their semifinal performance by finishing in ninth place in the final of the free routine.
Andy also stood out in the men's solo free routine, with an unprecedented score of 111.9460 points in the final.
