The Cuban para athletes brought joy to the opening ceremony of the 27th Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, with Place de la Concorde and the Champs Elysées as the main stage for the celebration.

The Cuban U12 team that is preparing for the Pan American Championships notched up an 11-1 knocked out over U.S.A. and qualified for the final of the invitational tournament being held in the Dominican Republic.

In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel sent his greetings to the 21 para athletes who will represent the Caribbean nation at the 2024 Paralympic Games, assuring that the history of 43 gold medals in Paralympic Games will grow and highlighting the protection of all Cubans’ right to practice and inclusion in sports.

World record holders and Paralympic champions in Tokyo 2020, Omara Durand and Robiel Yankiel Sol, will once again assume the responsibility of Cuba's main results in their ninth Paralympic multisport event in Paris 2024 (since Barcelona 92), scheduled from August 28 to September 8.

In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel praised the performance of Cuban boxers in the Champions’ Night event sponsored by the International Boxing Association (IBA) in which all Cuban boxers won their matches.

The six Cubans who took to the ring in Havana’s Ciudad Deportiva won their bouts in the IBA Champions’ Night—the first professional match organized in the island in more than 60 years—which marked both International Boxing Day and the 50th anniversary of the first IBA World Boxing Championships held in this city.

On the penultimate day of the Cuba finished ninth in the 21st Women’s NORCECA Pan Am Cup after beating Peru in straight sets on the penultimate day of the tournament in Guanajuato, Mexico.
