Japanese Film Show starts today in Havana



HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 25 (ACN) On the occasion of the Japanese Culture Day in Havana, an exhibition of Japanese films starts today in this city with the screening of the movie The Father of the Milky Way Railroad (2023).

Marla Almaguer, programming director of the Cuban Film Institute, said that the exhibition is made up of three fiction films, one animated film and several short films.

On his end, Minister-Counselor Atsushi Namba, Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Japan in Cuba, pointed out that the movies are mostly human dramas bound to touch everybody’s heart and praised the close ties between Cuba and Japan, two nations that help each other as they cope with natural disasters and various difficulties.

Also featured in the program are titles like Tsugaru Lacquer Girl (2023), Under the Open Sky (2020) and Princess Arete (2001), as well as a report of an audiovisual workshop given by the Japanese filmmaker Kayama Shota.
