Cuba vs. Kazakhstan in continuation of Chess Olympiad

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 16 (ACN) Cuba's women's national team will face Kazakhstan today, in what is expected to be a very complicated match, as part of the sixth round of the Budapest 2024 Chess Olympiad.

After defeating Egypt the day before -with an easy score of 3.5-0.5 points-, the team coached by Aramis Alvarez will face the members of a team that started the tournament ranked 10th in the Elo rating.

Oleiny Linares will compete in the first table against Meruert Kamalidenova, who holds the title of International Master without distinction of sex. In the remaining positions, Maritza Arribas will face Xeniya Balabayeva, Yerisbel Miranda Alau Nurman and Yaniela Forgas will challenge Amina Kairbekova.

The Caribbean women have won four of their five series, with their only setback coming on the third matchday against a strong Spain team. They are currently 21st in the standings and a draw in their next match would keep them in a good position.

India-Armenia, Hungary-Peru and Georgia-Mongolia will be the most important matches of the day, as they involve the leading teams in the women's section.
