Havana, Sep 26 (ACN) The Cuban blind baseball team is making its debut on Friday at the WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup underway till Sunday at the British Borough of Slough, 32 km west of central London
The Cuban team will face the current Italy—current champ—and later they will play against The Netherlands, which hosted the first championship in 2022 and finished fifth.
On Saturday, the Cuban selection will face China and if they get the first or second place in this group, they will make it to the semifinals.
According to the rules, the second classified team in a group will face the first classified in the other group, the winners will go for the gold on Sunday, those who lose will go for the bronze.
The other group includes Hungary, Pakistan, the USA and Britain.
The Cuban team will participate at the competition thanks to a fund donated by the Italy-Cuba National Friendship Association, which allowed to get the plane tickets.
The international cup, organized by the British Baseball Federation aims at providing the visually challenged players a chance to show their talent at the highest level.
The official ball is a Rubber ProA Ball, properly modified with five holes of 16 millimetres and one hole of 18 millimeters, placed eccentrically and containing two nickel-plated brass bells 24 x 21 millimeters.
Players can use any baseball or softball wood, aluminium or composite bat approved by the WBSC.
The action begins when the batter tosses the ball to himself or herself and tries to hit it. The game develops like any other baseball game.lc
