HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 17 (ACN) Cuban men's team will seek today its second success in bracket A of the 9th edition of the U23 Pan American Volleyball Cup, when it faces the Dominican Republic, with stage until next Saturday at the Anthony Nesty Sporthal in Paramaribo, Suriname.

After defeating Costa Rica 3-0 on Monday, Jesus Cruz's disciples will face the Dominicans today and the Mexicans tomorrow, in the closing of the group phase.

According to the website www.norceca.net, on Monday, Mexico also defeated Dominicans 3-1 in key A, while in key B, Guatemala beat Peru 3-2, and the host Suriname defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines 3-0.
Tuesday's matches will be completed with Costa Rica-Mexico, in Group A, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines-Peru and Suriname-Guatemala, in Group B.

The winners of each bracket will advance directly to Friday's semifinals, and the second and third place finishers will advance to Thursday's quarterfinals, when the competition for the fifth through eighth places will also begin, with the discussion of the fifth and sixth places, and the bronze and gold medals on Saturday.

Cuba and the Dominican Republic finished first and second, in that order, in the 2023 edition of the U23 Pan American Cup, and obtained their tickets to the Junior Pan American Games to be held in Asuncion, Paraguay in 2025, so the two direct quotas at stake are now being disputed among the rest of the contestants from the North, Central America and Caribbean (Norceca) teams.
