HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 26 (ACN) A Cuban baseball team will debut tomorrow in 2nd Blind Baseball International Cup, to be held until Sunday in Slough, United Kingdom.
On Friday, Team Cuba will first play against the reigning champion Italy and then against the Netherlands, host of—and fifth place in—the 2022 tournament.
Come Saturday, the Cubans will be opposite China to complete the Opening Round and, if they manage to be one of the two top-ranked teams, they will move up to the semifinals.
The other pool features Hungary, Pakistan, the United States and the British, who were runners-up in 2022.
Cuba’s presence in this International Cup, organized by the British Baseball Federation to provide visually impaired athletes with a platform to showcase their talent at the highest level, was made possible by the National Italy-Cuba Friendship Association, whose members paid for the airline tickets.
