Cuba and Russia agreed to boost the development of tourism as representatives of both countries signed cooperation accords during a bilateral meeting in Havana as part of the 20th Session of their Intergovernmental Commission for economic-commercial and scientific-technical collaboration.

Representatives of the Russian entrepreneurial sector and government said Wednesday in Havana that conditions are ready to increase and diversify economic links with Cuba surpassing last year’s trade exchange which climbed to 451 million dollars, particularly due to the oil supply to Cuba.

The injection of fresh foreign currency, which branches such as tourism, biotechnology and nickel seek to provide to the Cuban economy, usually occurs under the effects of the U.S. blockade, the ups and downs of international prices, the problems of the logistics chain and geopolitical conflicts on a global scale.
