“Music has saved us at all times; it was crucial during the pandemic and it still is as things go back to normal,” Cuban singer Eme Alfonso said on the occasion of the start today of the 2022 Havana World Music Festival (HWM), held online in the last two years because of the pandemic.

A new edition of the Havana World Music Festival (HWM) will be held May 26-28, an event that will bring together several young representatives of Cuban alternative music and artists from different countries of the world, after two years without holding the event in person due to the COVID-19.

“Congratulations to those who contribute one way or another to the functioning of museums in Cuba,” Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz wrote today on Twitter on the occasion International Museum Day.

The oldest active international event of Cuban theater began its program of performances, learning opportunities and twinning events under a new name, FESTITIM, or Festitaller Internacional de Títeres de Matanzas (International Festival/Workshop of Puppeteering), which includes workshops for professionals and amateurs, theoretical talks, keynote lectures and world premieres and is attended by performers from Mexico, Dominican Republic, Czech Republic, Canada, Puerto Rico and the host Cuba.

The French ambassador to Cuba, Patrice Paoli, reported on the rescheduling of dance performances and other activities as part of the current month of French Culture on the island.

Cuban minister of culture Alpidio Alonso Grau said that the Law on the Copyright and Performer's Rights, approved today, improves copyright protection, favors broad access to literary and artistic creation, represents an explicit recognition of the work of creators and supports the State's cultural policy.

The National Colloquium Voces de la República (Voices of the Republic), which this city has organized every year for two decades, starts today after a two-year interruption caused by COVID-19.

Artists from several provinces and foreign guests will exchange experiences and entertain different audiences during the international meeting Primavera Teatral ("Theatrical Spring"), to be held on May 20-24 in this city and other scenarios in the province.
