Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) appreciated the messages of congratulations sent in by the president of the Nicaraguan National Assembly, Gustavo Porras Cortes, after the successful parliamentary elections held last Sunday.

Alina Balseiro Gutiérrez, president of the National Electoral Council (CEN), will inform today in a press conference at 4:00 p.m., the final results of the recent elections, in which 75.92% of the voters chose the 470 deputies of the 10th Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament).

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez sent a message to Pope Francis, who was admitted in hospital on Wednesday for a respiratory infection, wishing him a speedy recovery.

The high voter turnout in the recent Cuban elections—over 75% of the electoral roll—confirms the commitment of our people with their future, said Yusley Izquierdo Sierra, president of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in the province of Pinar del Río.

The Industrial Enterprise “Angel Villarreal Bravo”, known as Ciclos Minerva, through a contract with the Schools of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and of Chemistry of the Central University Marta Abreu de Las Villas in central Cuba, developed a project to transform the internal-combustion-engined Piaggio vehicles into electric tricycles.

In statements to the media after a short visit to Cuba, FAO assistant director-general Mario Lubetkin, regional representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, rated as positive the relations of cooperation between his organization and the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture.

Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, thanked leaders, political parties and international organizations for their congratulations on the results of Sunday's election of 470 candidates for the National Assembly of People's Power.

Inter-parliament links can decisively strengthen positive relations between Cuba and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said Mario Lubetkin, assistant director general and representative for Latin America and the Caribbean with that entity.

The scientific and cultural exchange with academies in the state of New York, in the United States, and Guanajuato, Mexico, during March, showed the projection of the local University of Matanzas (UM), in western Cuba, to the global scenario.
Rita Martinez Pichardo, coordinator of UM's internationalization department, stated that the third visit of students and educators from SUNY Old Westbury, U.S.A., from March 20 to 23, and was a success.

Under the premise of developing innovative productions, the Center for Medical Biophysics (Cbiomed), since its foundation on February 10, 1993, has ventured into the manufacture and commercialization of medical equipment with the creation of three magnetic resonance tomographs, a historical milestone in industrial engineering and science in Cuba, in addition to being pioneers in Latin America.

 "We do not have to receive lessons from anyone and much less from the government of the United States (...) any strategy aimed at destroying the Revolution through confrontation or seduction will face the most determined rejection of the Cuban people and will fail".
