HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 4 (ACN) The 8th Congress on Climate Change kicks off today the first of its three-day sessions at the Tryp Habana Libre Hotel, as part of the 14th International Convention on Environment and Development.
One of its essential objectives is the presentation of research results on the latest high-level scientific findings, in terms of the explanation of the phenomenon, risk integration-management, education and awareness-raising capabilities.
Celso Pazos Alberdi, director of the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) chairs the organizing committee of the meeting, which will share experiences on climate change response strategies (adaptation - mitigation).
On Tuesday, the State of the Climate Report for Latin America and the Caribbean in 2022 will be presented, as well as debates on extreme events and climate change scenarios and the implementation of Early Warning Systems.
Likewise, the effect of greenhouse gases, impacts and adaptation to climate change, initiatives for transparency and climate action in Cuban agriculture, climate variability, modulating factors, impacts and adaptation, and cross-cutting issues, including technology transfer, communication and education.
The 14th Congress on Environmental Education for Sustainable Development, the 13th on Protected Areas, the 11th on Environmental Management, the 9th on Ecosystems and Biodiversity Management, the 6th on Environmental Policy, Justice and Law, the 2nd on Geospatial Sciences and Disaster Risk and the 5th Colloquium on Transportation and Environment will also be opened today.
