A tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, five years after his physical death, was the farewell to the members of the 31st U.S.-Cuba Friendship Caravan, who will return to their homes and communities Friday, after living 11 hectic, happy and unforgettable days in the Caribbean island.

59-years-old Cuban citizen Eliecer Howard, who dedicated part of his life to sports, visited the Santiago de Cuba’s Santa Ifigenia cemetery to pay homage to Fidel Castro, on the fifth anniversary of his passing.

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE) made a powdered milk donation to Cuba particularly aimed at vulnerable population sectors.

Five years after the death of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel praised Fidel's influence on his work and pointed out that he always tries to follow in his footsteps.


If you were not present in every act and your ideas did not accompany the daily life of this country—full of joys and sorrows, but always resilient and victorious in the face of adversity—perhaps I would accept, after five years, that you have died.

It’s been five years since the dramatic date of November 25, 2016, the day when our people and the world learned the news that seemed it would never happen: Fidel had died. Bidding him a farewell compelled to reflection on his legacy, founded on the immensity of the historical challenges he overcame to achieve the great work of emancipation of his Homeland, a fate otherwise forbidden for a small Island very close to the most powerful empire in history and which nevertheless managed to prevail and fulfill its dreams.
