Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel sent a hug via Twitter to his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro and his people in response to a congratulatory message for the successful election held this Sunday in Cuba.

Cuban authorities highlighted today the preliminary results of the Sunday vote, which registered 75.92% of participation and validated the election of the 470 candidates proposed for the 10th Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament).

A total of 6,164,876 Cubans (75.92% of the electoral roll) cast their vote yesterday in the election of candidates for deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), according to Alina Balseiro Gutierrez, president of the National Electoral Council (CEN).

Alina Balseiro Gutiérrez, president of the National Electoral Council (CEN) announced that 5,711,397 Cubans exercised their right to vote until 5:00 p.m. this Sunday, a figure equivalent to 70.34 percent (%) of the total number of registered voters.

At 9:00 a.m. today, 1,473,515 Cubans had exercised their right to vote, representing 18.15 % of the electoral roll of 8,120,72 million voters, announced Tomas Amaran Diaz, vice president of the National Electoral Commission (CEN).

The national Election Day is taking place in an transparent, ethical and responsible environment, where the previous organization of each polling station has been key, said Susana Dominguez Medina, president of constituency number 10 of the Pilar-Atares Popular Council, in the municipality of El Cerro.

Early in the morning, the polling station located in the Gonzalo de Quesada school, in the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución, received the residents of the 85th constituency, the tables arranged, papers, the Cuban flag and the pioneers next to the ballot boxes are images that are reiterated this Sunday in Cuba.

Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and Minister of Foreign Affairs, today highlighted the democratic nature of the Cuban electoral system with standards that are above the typical international ones.

Youth participation in the national elections process is essential for a better result that demonstrates the unity of the Cuban people, said today Aylin Alvarez Garcia, first secretary of the Young Communist League (UJC by its Spanish acronym).
