Diaz-Canel wishes success to the 26th Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum

 HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 30 (ACN) On behalf of President Miguel Diaz-Canel and the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Emilio Lozada, head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the PCC, extended warm greetings and wishes for the success of the 26th Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum.

During the opening of the event, in the presence of Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the Cuban official stressed the importance of this mechanism as a space for consultation and construction of the unity of the left to contribute to the definitive independence, sovereignty and integration of the region.

He highlighted the validity of the words of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro at the 4th Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum in Havana, on July 24, 1993, where he made a call to unite leftist forces and progressive movements in order to face the challenges of the contemporary world.

He insisted that despite Cuba's complex economic situation due to the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, the country will continue to resist.

Lozada thanked the permanent solidarity of Latin American and Caribbean countries with Cuba and reiterated the importance of unity to be stronger and avoid defeat.

The 26th Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum will be held in Brasilia until July 2, with the attendance of 150 representatives from 23 nations, under the motto "Regional integration to advance Latin American and Caribbean sovereignty".
