Over six thousand people were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Cuba in the course of the last week, which is the highest number of infected people since the epidemic began to be confronted in the country almost a year ago.

Cuba reported the largest number of children confirmed with COVID 19 in February, some 4 thousand 984, over 2 thousand more than the figure reported in January, however no deaths of children from the corona virus disease have occurred.

The Molecular Biology Laboratory recently opened in Guantanamo successfully processed today the first samples using the PCR technique, an event celebrated by the local scientific community and showing the preparation of the 43 members of the group, most of them specialists in Microbiology.

So far this year, more than 1,400 patients have recovered from SARS-CoV-2 at the Frank Pais International Orthopedic Scientific Center, one of the health institutions in Havana that has adapted its services to provide care for patients with COVID-19.

Cuba registered today five deaths due to COVID-19, for a total of 71 deaths in February, the highest figure ever reported in a month in the country.

Cuba studied 17,949 samples for COVID-19, resulting in 859 positive ones. The country accumulates 2,228,351 samples taken and 42,547 positive.

The daily numbers of COVID-19 positive people in Cuba do not go down. The upward trend in recent months continues to be confirmed every day and this Thursday was no exception: 923 cases, 887 of them with source of infection in the national territory.
