Havana, March 31 (ACN) Haiti’s Public Health Ministry announced a program to fight diphtheria outbreaks in the country, based on screening of cases in all areas.
Health minister Bertrand Sinal said that “it is urgent to prevent the spread of the contagious disease,” with the use of specialized drugs and indicated the emergent administration of diphtheria vaccines to all patients., according to the Gazzette Hait newspaper, cited by PL news agency.
According to local stats, Haiti has already registered 72 citizens infected with the virus, whose main symptoms are throat pain and breathing difficulty. The disease has been reported in all Haitian regions.
