Cuban economy will grow a slight 2 percent in 2021 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world crisis and the strengthened US economic blockade, though better results are expected to be achieved next year.

Antonio Carricarte, president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, said on Wednesday that the Cuba 2021 Productive Economic Workshop will contribute to boosting and energizing the economy, and that the business sector will understand that in the midst of the intensified U.S. blockade and the impact of COVID-19 there is capacity to move forward and grow as we resist.

A new resolution of the Ministry of Finance and Prices (MFP), number 393/2021, published on September 29 in Official Gazette No. 83, offers greater benefits to Cuban workers regarding the distribution of profits and their early payment, by modifying some procedures for claims of labor unions.
