Cuban film/documentary maker and musical programmer Lizette Vila Espina presides over the jury of the 44th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema tasked with granting the Arrecife Award.

The 4th British Culture season opened Monday in Havana with several actions including music concerts, theater plays and book launches.

To the beat of the musical piece "Por no verte llorar"(For not seeing you cry), a tribute to Juan Formell, the renowned Cuban salsa orchestra Van Van celebrated on Sunday the 54th anniversary of its creation at the Meliá Santiago de Cuba in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.

After the recent closing of the 25th edition of the Week of Italian Culture in Cuba on Nov. 27, Cuban authorities described the event as an opportunity to seek dialogue and positive exchange between the two countries.

The Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) denounced the organization of a film festival for the exhibition, in the United States, Europe and Latin America, of audiovisual productions that seek to rewrite history and distort Cuba’s realities, describing the event as still another attack against the country’s culture.

Cuba will take part in the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK)—to be held in that southern Indian state on December 8 to 12—with the films El Benny, by director Jorge Luis Sánchez; Inocencia, by Alejandro Gil; Martí y el ojo del canario, by Fernando Pérez; El Mayor, by Rigoberto López; Ciudad en Rojo, by Rebeca Chávez; and Contigo Pan y Cebolla, by Juan Carlos Cremata.

Performing artists, music bands, raffles, and the exhibition of cultural and culinary arts from more than 50 countries will be the hallmark of an International Bazaar to be held Sunday in this city to foster solidarity and raise funds for vulnerable sectors and daycare centers in Havana.

Havana hosted on Wednesday the 4th Encounter of Women Entrepreneurs in the Music Industry with the aim of bringing together those working in state-run, and private businesses and institutions to demystify roles usually played by men.

As a result of the recently concluded 39th edition of the Havana International Coffee Fair (FIHAV 2023), different companies that attended the event described Cuban coffee as an identifying feature of the national culture.
