Cuban artist succeeds on the international scene

LAS TUNAS, Cuba, Mar 11 (ACN) An empowered woman, a woman from Las Tunas, provokes applause and positive reviews for the masterful staging of her play Poesia Atrapada(Trapped Poetry) in the theaters of Rome, Italy, the country where she has lived for more than three decades.

Esnedy Milan, who maintains a close tie with her country and especially with Manati, her birthplace in the eastern province of Las Tunas, is an artist in love with the world of the stage and cinematography, manifestations that allow her to build cultural bridges between her and the public, but also between Cuba and Italy.

During February, the theatrical artist and producer had the privilege of participating with Poesia Atrapada (Trapped Poetry) at the Tordinona Theater in the European capital, with a monologue inspired by the Soviet writer Marina Tsvetayeva and performed by the renowned Russian actress Natalia Simonova.

The play, which attracts the attention of its followers, is complemented by audiovisual material under the histrionics of the interpreter Caterina Gramaglia and the music of the talented director Marco Lo Russo, with a wide complicity in Milan productions.

In statements to the Cuban News Agency, Esnedy said that the main theme deals with the universal feeling of love and its peculiarities, as an opportunity to face the fears and internal catastrophes of human beings.

But Esnedy is not only a woman of the European stage, with her production company Leon Cuba Films she materialized one of her most desired dreams: to make films from Manati, precisely in the rural communities of that municipality in the north of Las Tunas.

The film La Machetera is inspired by a teacher who returns from Havana to the sugarcane-growing area of Meriño and begins a colossal battle for insertion in the tasks involved in cutting sugarcane, an activity that in the last century was full of stereotypes for women.
