32nd Book Fair concluded in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba



SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Mar 25 (ACN) The 32nd edition of the Cuban Book Fair concluded with the commercialization of 1.3 million printed titles and more than 2,000 digital titles throughout Cuba.

In the Salon de los Vitrales of the Revolution Square, in this city, Juan Rodriguez Cabrera, president of the Cuban Book Institute, referred to the holding of the event in the complex circumstances in which the world lives, and especially the Caribbean island due to the restrictions imposed by the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.

According to him, more than 6,200 literary and artistic activities were developed, and more than 1,000 novelties were presented in physical and digital format, while 435 representatives from 56 countries participated, a record number, a sign of solidarity and trust in Cuba.

Rodriguez Cabrera said that Brazil, as guest of honor, presented a program representative of its culture, art and knowledge, which will be remembered as a transcendent moment in the relations between the two countries.

At the event, essayist and critic Francisco Lopez Sacha, one of the honorees of the international meeting, was awarded the Distinguished Visitor Award by the Municipal Assembly of People's Power for his praiseworthy contribution to the development of local and national culture.

The closing ceremony was attended by Beatriz Johnson, first secretary of the PCC in the province, Governor Manuel Falcon, Fernando Leon Jacomino, vice minister of Culture, and officials and intellectuals of the sector.
