HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 9 (ACN) “Canaan”, a collective exhibition of posters organized by students and professors of the Higher Institute of Design (ISDI), was inaugurated in this city.
According to ISDI deputy dean Ernesto Fernandez Sanchez, “Canaan” features 25 works of 23 young designers united for the cause of Palestine who had full creative freedom to come up with these pieces that portray the Israeli genocide, an effort which he described as a call for peace, coexistence, and a peaceful solution to the conflict taking place in that Arab nation.
The exhibition is named after the ancient region of Canaan—located in the Middle East, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River—that once encompassed the territory currently formed by part of Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Palestine with the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
On top of decades of illegal occupation, colonization and dispossession, Israel launched a new genocidal attack that in six months has left in its wake more than 33,000 Palestinians dead and almost 76,000 wounded.
