The main Cuban women tennis players won today the semifinals of the individual tournament of the Caribbean Championship, so the Caribbean island has already secured another gold medal, in its absolute dominance so far in the region's championship.

Cuban women's polo players will debut today at the Intercontinental Cup, to be held in Lima, Peru, against the United States, the biggest power in women's water polo, whose goalkeeper was Olympic champion in 2021 and world champion in the last two editions.

With tennis players competing in the four singles semifinals and in the two doubles gold contests, Cuba could reach all the golds at the Caribbean Championships, which concludes today in Havana, where the country already boasts the disputed titles.

Cuba, one of the main countries of table tennis in the Americas, "assumed the light" in the recovery of this sport after the Covid-19 pandemic, Dominican Juan Vila, president of the Pan American Confederation of that discipline, told Cuban News Agency.

With the incorporation of four judokas, among them Idalis Ortiz, Cuba will bolster the men's and women's judo teams participating at the World Tour, with presence in the Grand Slams of Paris, France, Tel Aviv, Israel, Tbilisi, Georgia, and Antalya, Turkey.

The Cuban and Puerto Rican men's and women's teams, the only undefeated ones at the Caribbean Table Tennis Championship, a Pan American and World Championship qualifier being held in Havana, stand out as favorites for today's semifinals.
The remaining match of the women's group stage will be between Barbadians and Dominicans.

Cuban men's basketball team head coach Eduardo Moya stressed in this city the importance of the country’s Superior League for the development of several talented young players and announced that this tournament should begin in April, after a two-year shutdown imposed by COVID-19.

The best competitors of the Caribbean, including international and Olympic medal winners, experienced players and new talents, are in this city to participate in the 62nd Caribbean Table Tennis Championship, a qualifying tournament for the 2022 Pan American Championship and the 2023 World Championship.
