Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban communist party and president of the country, highlighted today on Twitter the results of the multivalent vaccine against pneumococcus.

Three serotypes of Dengue Fever out of four present in Latin America and the Caribbean, are in Cuba which increases the risk to get the disease, said deputy health minister Carilda Peña García.

Cuba carried out a total of 2,223 samples for surveillance, 64 were positive. The country accumulates 13,995,779 samples carried out and 1,106,666 positive.

For 64 consecutive days, no deaths have been reported in Cuba due to the COVID-19, Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla highlighted today on Twitter, as an achievement of the Caribbean nation in the control of the disease.

 The Cuban ministry of public health ( MINSAP by its Spanish acronym) reported today that 38,953,180 anti-COVID-19 doses have been administered in the country, with its own vaccines, Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala.

Keeping COVID-19 under control is not the only challenge facing the Cuban health system, but also Dengue Fever since in summertime Aedes aegypti mosquitoes increase transmission of arboviruses.

 A total of 9,975,994 people have already been administered the COVID-19 vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala, which means that 90% of the Cuban population is immunized, according to the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

Cuba reported today 49 new COVID-19 cases, 48 hospital discharges and no fatalities.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel praised today the success of the COVID-19 pediatric immunization program launched in the country in preventing any decease among children and shared the results of a study by the Pedro Kourí Tropical Medicine Institute proving that, during the Omicron surge, the vaccine Soberana was 90.1% effective in the 2 to 5 age group and 95.8% in children between the ages of two and eighteen.

Cuban Minister of Public Health (MINSAP) José Ángel Portal Miranda urged to reinforce prevention and individual responsibility to tackle COVID-19 in light of the slight increase in the infection rate in the last four weeks, including 298 new cases in the past seven days.

COVID-19 transmission in Cuba increase by 83.8 percent up to July 9 after the average of cases per day grew to 41.9 up from 22.8 in June, which triggered the alerts of local authorities.

Cuba studied a total of 1,571 samples for surveillance, 31 of which were positive. The country accumulates 13,989,048 samples taken and 1,106,490 positive.

With the aim of increasing the levels of protection against COVID-19 in the population, the booster vaccination is progressing in Cuba, with a total of 7,420,450 people receiving additional doses.
