The Provincial Division of Public Health in the province of Holguín is already implementing new isolation protocols for SarsCOV-2 suspected and positive cases, in keeping with the in-home care procedures established in view of the high transmission levels in several Cuban provinces.

Authorities in the special municipality of the Isle of Youth, to the southwest of Cuba’s mainland, will ease COVID-19 restrictions as of July 21 given the low prevalence of the virus in the territory, but not disregarding epidemiological surveillance and safety protocols.

The immunization against COVID-19 with the Abdala vaccine, developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB by its Spanish acronym), is expected to be completed later this month in Havana, said Dr. Marta Ayala Avila, director of that institution.
