Cuba’s Health Ministry reported 8 thousand 317 new COVID-19 cases and 86 death on Wednesday, along with 6 thousand 637 recovered patients.

Cuban doctor Ricardo Hodelin, from the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba, joined the UNESCO Bioethics Network this week becoming the fifth Cuban physician to have received such acknowledgement.

Cuba studied a total of 54,636 samples to detect COVID 19, resulting in 7,771 positive samples. The country accumulates 8, 332,630 samples taken and 704,675 positive.

We already have the necessary elements to request in the next few hours the authorization for emergency use of the anti-COVID-19 Soberana Plus immunogen for the population convalescing from that disease, said Yuri Valdes Balbin, deputy director of the Finlay Institute of Vaccines (IFV).

 A 37.5 percent (%) of the Cuban population completed the immunization scheme either with the three doses of the Cuban anti-COVID-19 vaccines or with the single dose of Soberana Plus in convalescents.

A report by the Cuban Finlay Vaccines Institute on Monday revealed that the results of clinical trials with the Cuban vaccines in children fully support the implementation of a national children vaccination campaign.

Cuba studied 56,808 samples to detect COVID 19, resulting in 7,230 positive. The country accumulates 8, 277,994 samples taken and 696,904 positive.

Some three million 995 thousand 569 persons in Cuba received the third dose of a locally developed vaccine till September 1st, when the Health Ministry reported that five million 672 thousand 635 citizens got at least a first shot of the biotech products.

Cuban students of Technical and Professional Education, Pedagogy and High School in this central province say they will return to school under better protection against COVID-19 after getting immunized against the virus.

Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla highlighted today the high efficacy in children of the anti-COVID-19 vaccination scheme with Soberana02 and Soberana Plus, which supports the recent request to extend the authorization for emergency use of these drugs to the pediatric population.

A total of 3,663,808 people have received the complete anti-COVID-19 vaccination scheme in Cuba, with Soberana 02, Soberana Plus or Abdala, reports today the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP by its Spanish acronym).

Cuba studied 43,834 samples to detect COVID 19, with 6,342 positive results. The country accumulates 7, 935,443 samples taken and 652,855 positive.

Although a discreet decrease in COVID-19 cases in Cuba has been noted in recent days, this decline will not be steep, said today Dr. Francisco Duran Garcia, national director of epidemiology of the ministry of public health ( MINSAP by its Spanish acronym).

A delegation of Italian activists who came here accompanying a donation of medical items to the island will hand over by themselves part of that shipment to local healthcare centers in the provinces of Havana, Ciego de Avila and Santiago de Cuba.
