The Guillermo Luis Hospital in the town of Moa is one of the healthcare centers in the province of Holguin that received medical supplies donated by many countries to help Cuba fight COVID-19.

Cubans in Belgium and friends of the Caribbean island in that country are now preparing a third shipment of medical items to support the local health sector’s fight against COVID-19.

“We are making history here,” Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez wrote today on Twitter in reference to the swift and effective COVID-19 vaccination process among Cuban children and adolescents.

Cuban National Center for Biopreparations (BioCen) is preparing the presentation of the dossier to obtain the approval, by the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices, of a clinical trial with Biomodulin T in COVID-19 convalescents.

The 99.3 % of students in the final years of high school in the capital have already completed their immunization schedule with the Abdala vaccine and at this moment the process is being concluded with those who for different reasons had been delayed, with a view to resuming on October 4 the presential school course in those levels, Tribuna newspaper reported.

Cuba is already vaccinating COVID-19 convalescents, the process kicked off in this easternmost province on Monday by administering a single of the homegrown vaccine Soberana Plus to some 11 thousand 520 citizens of 19 years of age and older.

The application of Soberana Plus to COVID-19 convalescents begins today in Villa Clara for those who suffered from the disease before last July 12, reinforcing the immunity acquired with the disease, at the same time that other vaccination schedules continue.

Cuba studied a total of 48,370 samples for surveillance during the day, resulting in 6,632 positive tests. The country accumulates 9, 423,660 samples taken and 860,799 positive.
