With the traditional Burning of the Devil, a religious symbol of purification and renewal, the 43rd Caribbean Festival, dedicated this year to the Brazilian state of San Salvador de Bahía, closed its doors in this city.

Inscribed in 2019 on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Garifuna National Folkloric Ballet of Honduras participated for the first time in the 43rd Fire Festival held in this city.

With the symbolic Burning of the Devil, which took place at La Alameda walkway, very close to the bay, the Caribbean Festival will close today its 43rd edition, dedicated to the state of Bahia, Brazil.

Bathed in the Caribbean’s typical rhythm, color and joy, the 43rd Fiesta del Fuego Festival kicked off in this city with an opening gala that displayed the region’s most authentic popular culture, with emphasis on the cultural expressions of Salvador de Bahia, the Brazilian state to which the Festival is dedicated this year.

The Casa del Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano (House of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema) is calling for the "What do you know about the Festival" contest, which through the Arte 7 film magazine, will be answering questions on different aspects that are part of the history of the event.

Some 66 cartoonists, humorists and other artists from 24 countries will expose the current fight against neo-fascism through in an exhibit of their works during the First International Biennial of Political Satire to take place in this city capital June 14-28.
