Cuban music band honored Máximo Gómez in the Dominican Republic

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 16 (ACN) In the context of the Cuban Culture Conference, the popular Cuban band Arnaldo y su Talismán visited the Máximo Gómez Polytechnic in the municipality of Baní, the the Dominican Republic’s province of Peravia, to talk about the evolution of Cuban music.

The renowned musician toured schools related to Cuban history, including the said educational center in the birthplace of General Máximo Gómez, one of the paradigms of the struggles for Cuban independence, where the band witnessed a tremendous display of joy as students and faculty alike danced and endorsed the cries of freedom that mean so much to all Cubans,

During their stay, the Cubans shared memories with their hosts about events such as Commander in Chief Fidel Castro’s visit to this sister nation in 1998 to found the school with the same resolve as the Generalissimo taught how to fight with a machete and, two years later, the Máximo Gómez Polytechnic was a reality built with Cuban hands.

Arnaldo and his band also went to the house where Máximo Gómez was born and met with leaders of the Foundation named after him, who are in charge of preserving his memory.
