Far from expressing its support for the cessation of the blockade against Cuba, the current U.S. administration continues its relentless persecution of financial transactions involving the island and which have affected practically all sectors of the economy.

Consuelo Baeza Martin, president of the National Nominations Commission (NCC by its Spanish acronym), described today as a legitimate and democratic exercise the nomination of the 470 candidates for the Cuban Parliament, by the 168 Municipal Assemblies of People's Power.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez was approved in the city of Santa Clara as candidate to the parliament by the unanimous vote of the 110 delegates of the Assembly of People's Power in that city, as part of a nationwide process to nominate potential members of the country’s top legislative organ following an election scheduled for March 26.

On February 4, 1962, the Revolution Square, in Havana, hosted more than one million Cubans to listen to Fidel in the General Assembly of the People, which would be known as the Second Declaration of Havana.

On the 61st anniversary of the signing of Proclamation 3447, which established the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba, Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said today that this system of coercive measures is the most severe, prolonged and inhumane applied against any nation.
