In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stressed that the state visit of his Vietnamese counterpart To Lam will relaunch ties between the two nations and welcomed the also general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who will be in the island until Friday, September 27.

Political Bureau member Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, welcomed Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV) and President of that country, at the José Martí International Airport in Havana.

Cuba’s Political Bureau member Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with several officials from friendly nations in the context of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States.

The president of the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament), Esteban Lazo and the president of Namibia’s National Council (Upper Chamber of Parliament), Lucas Sinimbo, expressed their willingness to strengthen relations between their countries’ legislative bodies.

Tropical storm Helene became the fifth hurricane to develop during the current hurricane season; the storm crossed the Yucatan channel pouring intense rain on western Cuba and on the Mexican state of Quintan Roo.

To Lam, President of Vietnam and General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party, will arrive today in Cuba for a two-day state visit that includes official talks with his Cuban counterpart Miguel Díaz-Canel and meetings with other Cuban authorities.

A delegation of young Cuban scientists from a wide range of institutions and universities is participating in the program Cuba and Russia, together for health, under way in Moscow, where they have visited centers of scientific, economic and historical interest, including the Museum of the Communist International and an exhibition of achievements of the Russian economy.

 Vicente Alejandro Ortega Cedillo, a professor with the Autonomous University of Mexico, is scheduled to present a lecture today, titled Why site museums are important, to the 8th Scientific Conference “Museology and Society” held in this city.

The presentation in this city of the book Actos de Guerra (Acts of War) became a genuine literary workshop on political and historical facts of the confrontation of Cuban and U.S. intelligence and counterintelligence agencies, addressed in what Alberto Marrero Fernandez, president of the Writers' Association of the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) described as “an excellent novel about the plans of subversion, terrorism, covert action and clandestine war of the U.S. government against our country through its intelligence services and the Cuban or non-Cuban profit-seeking supporters of an inhumane blockade which for more than 60 years has caused incalculable damage and suffering”.

As storm Helene keeps moving towards the Gulf of Mexico, moving near the western tip of Cuba with heavy rains and gusty winds, authorities and citizens in Pinar del Rio Province and the Isle of Youth, as well as other territories took preventive measures to safeguard human life, property and economic resources.
