Strategic Exercise Bastion 2024 successfully concluded

 HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 26 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel recalled the words of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, Historical Leader of the Revolution, when he said, “Our defense can never be entrusted to others; it’s something that a people can only entrust to itself".

“That is the reason for this Bastion 2024 and for the National Defense Day drills, both successfully concluded this week nationwide by our people in uniform”, the leader wrote.

Also on X, Political Bureau member Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, remarked that the drills organized in the context of National Defense Day are part of the country's preparedness in line with the doctrine of the War of All the People, designed 25 years ago to counter any external threat or attack.

In his capacity as President of the National Defense Council, Díaz-Canel led the political-cultural event held on Saturday to celebrate Defense Day and attended by members of student and youth organizations who reasserted their commitment to the emancipatory ideals underpinning the process of transformations under way in the country.

The celebrations marked the completion of the Strategic Exercise Bastion 2024, intended to strengthen military capabilities and popular organization to stand up to any foreign aggression.
