HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 22 (ACN) In assessing the performance of Havana’s Provincial Defense Council in the military exercise Bastion 2024, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, chair of the National Defense Council (CDN), insisted on the need to strengthen combat readiness and preparedness and to keep promoting the concept of war of all the people.
The president referred to the drills as a positive activity undertaken just as Cuba was designated again as a state sponsor of terrorism following the start of Donald Trump’s second mandate as U.S. president and praised the participation of young people in the University Student Bastion organized across the nation on January 21.
On his end, Liván Izquierdo Alonso, chair of Havana’s Provincial Defense Council, pointed out a number of actions carried out before Bastion 2024 and envisaged for the National Defense Day on January 25.
