HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 28 (ACN) Intelligence applied to problem solving has become a priority in Cuba's national agenda, according to what was stated at the Palace of the Revolution, scenario of the meeting with experts and scientists, headed by Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and president of the country.
The meeting discussed proposals that show the potential of Cuban science in social welfare and energy development, according to Cubadebate.
Among the topics discussed was the National Program for Integral and Sustainable Energy Development, presented by PhD in Science and Senior Researcher David de los A. Perez Martin.
This program seeks to maximize the use of resources such as biomass and industrial waste, with the aim of developing technologies that increase energy efficiency in the country.
Also, PhD Alfredo Curbelo Alonso spoke about the replacement of fossil fuels with biofuels, a proposal that could transform Cuba's energy matrix.
Innovation was also present in the presentation of PhD. Jose Luis Sanchez Avila, who spoke about the use of the kinetic energy of the tides in the canals of the north of Matanzas province for the generation of electricity.
Participants highlighted several achievements in 2023, including the development of new materials for energy storage, as well as advances in the electrification of light transportation and the creation of rechargeable battery prototypes.
Projects in 2024 focused on initiatives to improve Cuba's energy regulatory framework, the development of wind turbines, as well as research on bioenergy and biodegradable lubricants.
The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on the need for an energy transition in the country, reaffirming that the National Program for Integral and Sustainable Energy Development is open to new collaborations and proposals that will enhance Cuba's energy future.
