Cuba attends international scientific conference in Oman

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 26 (ACN) Members of the Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC) traveled to Muscat, Oman, to attend the III General Assembly of the International Science Council (ISC), to be held until January 30.

“Cuba’s presence in this conference is a recognition to our institution for the results of its national management and international relations”, said ACC secretary Nancy Pavón Fuentes. “We are represented by Isneri Talavera Bustamante, one of our five vice presidents in the 2025/2029 academic period”.

The conference features the Muscat Global Knowledge Dialogue along with the General Assembly that ISC holds every four years, described as the premier occasion for ISC members and affiliated bodies, fellows and partners from all domains of science and regions of the world to meet for cross-disciplinary strategic discussions on challenges and priorities for international cooperation in science.

The ISC was formed in 2018 by the merger of the former International Council for Science and the International Social Science Council, founded in 1931 and 1952, respectively, and its first General Assembly was held in Paris, France, in July 2018.

Approved as full member of the International Association of Academies of Sciences and of the World Academy of Sciences, the ACC is recognized as the strongest and most integrating national association in Latin America and the Caribbean, as evidenced by the interest of ambassadors, officials and presidents of related institutions to organize mutual exchanges and sign non-binding documents.
