Diaz-Canel denounces new US maneuver against Cuba

 

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 24 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, denounced today the maneuvers and false pretexts used to accuse the Caribbean nation.

Among the most cynical and perverse maneuvers of the enemies of the Cuban people are the false pretexts they build to accuse Cuba of criminal practices that they will never prove, and misrepresent facts that history has amply clarified, declared the president on X.

Diaz-Canel condemned the dishonest arguments with which they have not even been successful in avoiding the international isolation in which the United States finds itself with its aggressive policy towards Cuba.

With his message he shared the words of Eugenio Martinez Enriquez, general director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Cuban foreign ministry, confirming that no member of the National Liberation Army of Colombia (ELN) or its Central Command is in Cuba.
The mention of Cuba as one of the countries where they could be is an insinuation without evidence, because there is none, he affirmed.

He stressed that all ELN members who traveled to Cuba in the recent past, did so with authorizations from the Colombian National Government through safe conducts issued, they came to our country with the only and exclusive purpose of negotiating peace in Colombia.

This is perfectly known to the Colombian National Government, to the representatives of the guarantor countries and to the permanent accompaniers of the Table of Peace Dialogues Colombia, Martinez Enriquez pointed out.

The diplomat added that in the extraordinary meeting of the Table of Peace Dialogues held in the city of Caracas, Venezuela, in May 2024, the ELN offered the attendees a proof of the aforementioned.

Martinez Enriquez published a statement of the Delegation of the National Government in the Dialogues with the ELN in which it is recognized that Cuba has the condition of guarantor country of the peace process.

In consideration of this important function, our delegation affirms that to date, and according to official information, there are no representatives or persons authorized to participate in the peace process belonging to the ELN in Cuba, the text referred.
