HOLGUIN, Cuba, Jan 24 (ACN) The collaborative project "The Office", which aims to combine nature, community and visual arts from the eastern province of Holguin, will be part of the extensive program of activities of the 15th edition of the Havana Biennial, which runs until Feb. 28.
Luis Ramon Silva, artist of the territory and creator of the project, in a press conference, announced that the meeting will take place from Jan. 26 to Feb. 6 in the community of El Purial belonging to the head municipality and that it will include the participation of international creators from Peru, Canada and Holland.
The opening day of the exhibition is scheduled for February 1, where commemorative slabs will also be unveiled in honor of the community's neighbors with more than one hundred years of life, he explained.
The artist also commented that the program of activities includes exchanges in elementary schools where there is a need to encourage children's interest in the visual arts, tours of historic sites in the city and a talk on "Natural values of the karst hills of Maniabón" by Carlos Miguel Peña, a member of the Citma delegation.
Yurisel Moreno, director of the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts, emphasized that within the conceptual approach of the Biennial it has been very important to incorporate projects with a social profile where the artist not only proposes works that integrate the space of a gallery but also elaborates proposals in which the community becomes the protagonist.
Organized by the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, the 15th Havana Biennial aims at creating networks of connection and feedback among artists, communities and the participating public, as well as fostering a dialogue for creators from all over the world.
