The installation of a Digital Laboratory for Hearing Aids in the Specialized Audiology Service of the eastern province of Las Tunas is a step forward in the treatment of people suffering from this type of medical condition, especially for infants at an early age.

In statements to the press yesterday, Dr. Francisco Durán García, national director of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, reported the presence of the dengue and oropouche viruses in 14 and 15 provinces of the country, respectively, and urged the population to step up hygiene and environmental sanitation and avoid the accumulation of water, given the proliferation of mosquitoes as a result of the heavy rains of recent days.

Dr. Francisco Durán García, national director of Hygiene and Epidemiology, informed in a press conference that the dengue and oropouche viruses are still spreading in most Cuban provinces and called on the population step up hygiene and environmental sanitation and to avoid the accumulation of water, given the proliferation of mosquitoes as a result of the heavy rains of recent days.

The community rural nursing work in Cuba, recognized as a benchmark by the Pan American Health Organization, was presented at the first national forum on the health specialty in eastern Holguín province.

Dr. Francisco Durán García, national director of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, called on the population to act more responsibly against and work harder to tackle the current epidemiological situation in Cuba, marked by a spreading transmission of the dengue and oropouche viruses in 14 and 15 provinces of the country, respectively.

As part of the efforts of the Cuban public health ministry (Minsap by its Spanish acronym) to tackle pneumococcal disease, the vaccination campaign with the Cuban immunogen Quimio-Vio begins today for two-year-old children, Francisco Duran Garcia, national director of hygiene and epidemiology, said at a press conference.

The plaques “40 years of love and hope for the world” and “40th anniversary of Family Medicine” were bestowed on workers and founders of the Unidad Central de Cooperación Médica (UCCM) in recognition of its four decades of dedication to this humane endeavor ever since it was founded by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro on October 3, 1984.
