Cuban Nursing Society to host international congress



HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 15 (ACN) The Cuban Nursing Society (SCE) will hold its 20th Congress, intended to socialize experiences related to the application of science and technological innovation in this field for the benefit of global health.

Scheduled to be held on November 27 to 29, the Congress will gather more than 400 delegates from 30 countries and include meetings of the International Council of Nurses (ICN), the Pan American Federation of Nursing Professionals, and the Group of Nursing Professionals of Central America and the Caribbean, as well as the III Meeting of Professional Doctors of Science.

SCE president Lázaro Hernandez Vergel announced the presentation of 296 papers about health care priorities and the strengthening of health care systems, advanced nursing practice, and nurse management during emergencies and catastrophes, as well as topics such as the training and regulation of professional practice, service quality and safety, the promotion of healthy communities, leadership, and labor support.

Likewise, the program features 12 keynote lectures, two symposiums, four round-table discussions, three panels and four book presentations, in addition to a tour of primary care facilities and a doctoral defense exercise on the development and professionalization of nursing in Cuba.
Among the sponsors of the event are the Ministry of Public Health, the National Council of Scientific Societies, PAHO, UNICEF, Fundación para el Desarrollo de Enfermería and Colegio de Enfermeras (both from Spain), Havana’s Medical School, and the Pan American Federation of Nursing Professionals.
