HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 25 (ACN) Executives of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap by its Spanish acronym) continue visiting health institutions in Havana to check on the actions taken in response to the energy contingency, the agency reported on X.
At each meeting, the availability of water, fuel and the guarantee of medical attention in each center are analyzed together with managers and workers.
Tania Cruz Hernandez, deputy minister of the sector, conveyed in the visited facilities, on behalf of the Minsap's Board of Directors, the recognition to the workers who guaranteed medical assistance in difficult conditions, showing the value and commitment of Cuban health workers.
In a meeting with workers and executives of the Joaquin Albarran Hospital and the Institute of Nephrology, Cruz Hernandez learned about the measures implemented in these institutions in view of the disconnection of the National Electric System and how they organize the services to continue medical care.
While touring areas of the William Soler Pediatric Hospital and the Cardiocenter of the same name, reference centers in Cuba, the Minsap team exchanged on the actions they are developing to guarantee medical attention to infants in the event of contingencies.
For his part, the Vice President of the Republic Salvador Valdes Mesa, accompanied by the highest authorities of the capital, visited the company Aguas de La Habana, where he exchanged with the directors on the current situation of the water supply, the conditions of the pumping equipment and supply sources.
They learned first-hand about the number of affected population, the short and medium-term recovery strategies and the operational readjustments to benefit the service, according to the Havana Provincial Government's Facebook profile.
They were also informed about the behavior and distribution of the company's own tanker trucks and the alliances with other agencies to serve each municipality, according to the level of affectation.
Cuban Vice President's visit continued at the Provincial Enterprise of Communal Hygiene of Havana, where the situation of solid waste collection and the state of the equipment were assessed.
Emphasis was placed on the implementation of existing strategies to guarantee the efficiency of the service, with special attention to the most affected areas.
The impact of the rains on waste management was discussed, especially in the three existing landfills in Havana.
The importance of creating basic structures to improve efficiency and working conditions, as well as promoting the classification of garbage at source to promote recycling, were central topics of the meeting.
The tour continued at the Bacuranao Agricultural Enterprise, where Valdes Mesa talked with the directors to learn details of the production process of the center, which has 22,000 hectares dedicated to different crops and cattle and buffalo farming.
During the meeting, it was explained that the entity is currently working on the identification of exportable products and the promotion of collaboration projects.
The importance of promoting banking services in the company's sales areas to facilitate commercialization was also highlighted.
