LAS TUNAS, Cuba, Nov 25 (ACN) The installation of a Digital Laboratory for Hearing Aids in the Specialized Audiology Service of the eastern province of Las Tunas is a step forward in the treatment of people suffering from this type of medical condition, especially for infants at an early age.
Disnier Pavon Sanchez, technician of hearing molds in this center, said exclusively to the Cuban News Agency that the service was recently equipped with this laboratory with 3D scanner, which will speed up the process for obtaining prostheses for patients.
Now everything works in a digitalized way with this first-world technology equipment, of the industry 4.0, because before it was very cumbersome because they had to be sent by mail, hence the installation of this device is a joy for the health system in this territory, he said.
The aim of the Public Health system is to place this medical service at a higher level, hence they are working to have in 2025 the availability of soft and more colorful ear molds, since to date the predominant material is silicone and sometimes infants reject it a little.
Pavon Sanchez also said that the new Digital Laboratory of Auditory Prosthesis is fully equipped with the kits of raw materials to take the impressions, a process that implied a rigorous training and that becomes a learning opportunity within this field.
The main objective of the mold is to conduct the sound of the earphone of the hearing aid to the interior of the external auditory canal, reason why it is necessary to take the exact measures for the materialization of these, the specialist concluded.
