Havana, Oct 17 (ACN) The community rural nursing work in Cuba, recognized as a benchmark by the Pan American Health Organization, was presented at the first national forum on the health specialty in eastern Holguín province.
Anahy Velázquez Aznar, head of the Nursing Department at the Ministry of Public Health, stressed the accessible, comprehensive, free, regionalized, and internationalist approach of the rural community nursing to healthcare in vulnerable and remote areas.
The program prioritizes maternal and child care, traditional and natural medicine, childcare, and adolescent pregnancy prevention, said the official.
Despite geographical challenges, efforts are underway in Cuba to increase the number of professionals pursuing master's and doctorate degrees.
During the final sessions of the forum, participants from different Cuban provinces shared experiences on Community intervention with emphasis on the work with adolescents and youth.
