Havana, Nov 1 (ACN) A report by the World Health Organization (WHO) revealed that from January to October this year, 14 countries in the Americas reported 4 thousand 213 confirmed mpox cases, including six deaths.
The disease also known as monkey pox has been reported in Argentina (78 cases), Bolivia (one), Brazil (1225), Canada (251), Chile (10) and Colombia (121 cases), according to the latest update, cited by PL news agency.
Other nations of the region which registered the disease are Costa Rica (one), Ecuador (7), the USA (2,317 and three deaths), Guatemala (one), Mexico (99 and one death), Panama (5), Peru (89 and two deaths) and the Dominican Republic (8).
Some 46 percent of the cases concentrate in the population group of 30-39 years of age, while 28 confirmed cases affected persons below 18 years in five countries.
