The 31st version of the International Poetry Festival kicked off today until May 31 in Havana, an event that brings together poets, writers and literature lovers from different parts of the world every year.

The National Ballet of Cuba, led by Prima Ballerina and company general director Viengsay Valdes, is currently on an Asian tour including China, Vietnam and Laos.

The first Timor Leste Unico International Festival (Fitun) featured Cuba as the guest country of the event that promotes the preservation of identity through innovation and entrepreneurship.

 Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, attended on Wednesday the Cuba-China Cultural Gala at the Karl Marx Theater in this capital.

Dreamed up by the cameraman and documentary filmmaker Bernabé “Bebo” Muñiz Guibernau and established on March 21, 1992, the Museum of Image and Sound named after him in the city of Santiago de Cuba goes beyond what is traditionally known of this type of spaces to become a site of exchange between history, culture and the public.

Alpidio Alonso, Minister of Culture, and Marta Bonet, president of the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC), attended the ceremony where the renowned Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto received the International Award “Fernando Ortiz” in recognition of his prolific literary career, his thoughts about decolonization, and his exquisite sensitivity and commitment to the national social project.

The way films portray women, the differences between the male and female views, and a critical audience’s take on them were a topic for panel discussions in the International Poor Cinema Festival currently under way in Gibara, Cuba.
