MATANZAS, Cuba, Jun 20 (ACN) Concerts and master classes inspired by Afro-Cuban culture will enrich the program of activities held at the 1st International Minini Por Siempre Event in the western province of Matanzas, to be held June 25-30.
Rumbatimba, the Kings of the Drum, and Muñequitos de Matanzas are among the groups that will lead the event dedicated to honoring the work of musician Francisco Zamora Chirino (Minini) on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of his death.
Maintaining the legacy of those who contributed their art to this music-dance genre and strengthening its cultural roots in this territory is the main objective of this young initiative, which also aims to celebrate the 68th birthday of the AfroCuba group.
Popular dances, basic knowledge about the cemeteries established in Matanzas, and rumba in all its forms are among the topics taught by professors and guest artists during the workshops held in the Sauto Theater's Hall of Mirrors.
The event, sponsored by the Jose White Provincial Center for Music and Entertainment, will feature the presentation of AfroCuba's 10-track album "El Ilustre," which the public will enjoy.
Celebrations, meetings, exchanges, and tributes will fill the four days of art, enriched by the presence of artists from countries such as Russia and Colombia, as well as the fusion of experience and youth that characterizes the host group.
